Poem- second order thinking

Let the answers to the problem not create other problems to make the matter worse.

Solutions must not only provide short-term relief but also take care of the long-term impact without making things adverse.

Pushing for a quick small upside without weighing the large downside of the decision will jeopardise an important element.

Plugging small leaks only to create bigger leaks out of them will create more trouble, making your measures totally irrelevant.

To think long term, one must keep on asking “what happens next?”

Repeatedly thinking about consequences over a longer time frame can help avert bad after-effects without getting anyone vexed.

Find ways to avoid the unintended and undesired outcomes of events by preempting their second-order consequences.

Never lock yourself into the first available option. Explore more possibilities for better solutions by discarding your initial biases.

Tracing down the first-order impact will give us guidance on how things will pan out later.

Don’t overlook hidden irregularities that can cause major disturbances, as it is a serious matter.

Don’t be afraid if you have to bite a short-term bullet for long-term gain.

Restrain the temptation of immediate payoff to look for a more sustainable solution without any strain.poem
