Poem Fear of missing out

The necessity of being part of something so it doesn’t move away.

Quick march to get hold of it without any delay.

Getting carried away by the momentum game to outpace everyone else anyhow.

Before a short window of time closes, we must cross hurdles while keeping our heads held high without any bow.

Our desire to know what lies next after crossing the big wall.

The pull to see what lies on the other side of that corner that stands tall.

Fear grips us from the inside, thinking about what would happen if we missed being part of it.

Anger persists inside for not pushing enough with all the grit.

A finger will be pointed at us brazenly if we deliberately try to desist.

Lots of questions will be hurled at us asking what made us quit.

Allowing ourselves to think independently amidst chaos is a rosy dream.

Questioning why we should be part of it becomes a matter of scream.

It’s easy to get sucked into this race, but it’s tough to exit midway.

The momentum tide that took us to such a height invites the fall by evaporating midway, leaving us in the lurch by showing its ruthless display.

Avoiding this trap is important so we don’t end up chasing something we never wished for.

The stacking of ladders of labour against the wrong wall makes us repent to the core.
